Frequently Asked Questions

My Child is 9...can they still participate?

Absolutely!  If you have an 8 or 9 year old that has some experience with running, we're happy to evaluate them for placement in one of the groups.

But I'm 19...can I participate?

Yes you can!  We welcome graduated high school seniors as they prepare for their upcoming college season.

When and Where are practices?

Summer Session practices begin each morning (Monday - Friday) at 7:30am at the track at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School on Station Avenue in South Yarmouth.

Fall Session practices meet Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:15pm-4:30pm (see registration info for location), and Saturdays from 9:00am-10:30am.

Does my child have to attend every training session?

No.  He/she can attend as many or as few as you like.  Every athlete has a different need and tolerance for work.  We leave it to you and your child to judge how often to attend.  However, fewer than two practices per week is probably of limited value.

Why do we need to have a USATF memberships?

Riptide Running Cape Cod is organized and insured through this organization and membership is a requirement for coverage.  In addition, the USATF membership entitles your child to run in USATF-sanctioned races, like the Junior Olympics.

Is the team only practicing or will there be racing?

Team members will have the opportunity to participate in various local races during during the summer and fall sessions, as well as the USATF Junior Olympics.  Check the Calendar section and Race Forms section for more details.
